Deputy Project Managers / Policy Coordinator - Gop / IUCN / NIAP - Islamabad

The government of Pakistan (GOP) and IUCN Pakistan are implementing the national impact assessment program (NIAP) that aims to strengthen the environmental impact assessment (EIA)process and introduce strategic environmental assessment (SEA) in national development planning. (NIAP) has four implementing partners; Pakistan environmental protection agency

(Pak-EPA) environment wing planning & development division, planning commission of Pakistan (PC), and IUCN Pakistan the project is funded by the embassy of the kingdom of the Netherlands.

On behalf of NIAP, IUCN Pakistan seeking the following positions, based at different locations, for a 1 year period extendable for a further period of one a half years/project end.

Deputy project manager/policy coordinator, environment wing, ministry of national disaster management (monDM) – Islamabad
The DPM/policy coordinator will provide in implementation of the program activities in the environment wing of the ministry of national disaster management with a specific focus on policy review and development. In addition to his/her technical functions, he/she would perform management support functions for smooth implementation in the environment wing of the MonDM.

Qualifications and skills required:
1.      post-graduate degree in environmental engineering environmental sciences, social sciences or natural resource management with at least 6 years relevant professional experience and
2.      Excellent understanding of EIA process and its implementation and the legal/policy framework governing EIA process in the country.

Deputy project manager /EIA expert (Pak-EPA) – Islamabad
The DPM/EIA expert will provide support in implementation of the program activities in Pak EPA with a specific focus on EIA. In addition to his/her technical functions, he/she would perform management support functions for smooth implementation of the program in Pak EPA.

Qualifications and skills required:
1.      post-graduate degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences or natural resource management with at last 6 years relevant professional experience preferably in EIA development and implementation;
2.      excellent understanding of EIA process, its implementation status in Pakistan and new developments/research in EIA internationally; and
3.      Ability to conduct training programs on EIA.

  For both the above positions, candidates should have excellent communication skills both in English and Urdu and ability to work with multiple partners in a multidisciplinary project especially government institutions,
