An international Donor-funded organization is seeking applications for a Research Specialist
The position is based in Islamabad. However, for applicants with the appropriate experience and expertise, alternate locations may be considered.
Summary of Position
The research specialist is a member of a small research team at organization. Their primary task is working along side university research teams to help them at al stages of their research. They will also contribute to developing the technical direction for this component of the project and help document the development of the research component in organization. The research specialist coordinates with one other specialist and the manager research, and reports to the manager research.
Responsibilities;
Make regular onsite visits and provide support to mentor and guide research teams from partner universities across Pakistan at all stages of their research from research design to report writing and dissemination of research findings
Where possible and appropriate, help connect research teams to other researchers in Pakistan and identify potential mentors for research teams
Track/monitor the progress of research teams (and their mentors if appropriate)
Help identify training needs among research teams and their members and appropriate training providers in Pakistan
Assistant in the design and implementation of activities to build capacity of research teams to do qualitative and quantitative research in education for example, designing agendas and materials for biannual research seminars, drafting copies of work for training providers
Assist with logistics arrangements for research related activities and events as requested by the Manager Research
Contribute to the preparation of quarterly work plans
Collect, analyze and report on the research component of the project
Design and develop content for the research page of the Pre-STEP website
The research specialist will be an enthusiastic professional willing to travel in Pakistan to partner universities. They will have a Masters or M Phil Degree from reputed university in Pakistan or overseas in social sciences, economics, development studies or a related field and an outstanding academic record. The position requires strong research and analytical skills (quantitative and/or qualitative skills) and excellent writing skills. In their role as mentors, and as members of a team, the specialist will require will developed interpersonal skills.
